Tottenham believe they can negotiate a huge £20m discount this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are now becoming increasingly confident of winning the race for Tyler Dibling, with a new report explaining why the Lilywhites expect to sign the winger for a much lower fee than Southampton are asking for.

We might be more than three months away from the summer transfer window, but over the last few days, the speculation linking Tyler Dibling with a move to Tottenham has intensified significantly.

It was claimed earlier this week that Spurs are now of the belief that they are leading the race for Dibling, even though the 19-year-old is also attracting interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle.

A fresh report has now suggested that the Lilywhites do not even think they need to meet Southampton’s asking price to bring the winger to N17.

GiveMeSport reveal that Southampton have made it clear to Dibling’s suitors that it would take a fee in excess of £50m to price him away from St Mary’s this summer.

However, with the winger entering the final year of his deal at the South Coast club this June, and with the Saints looking certain to go down, Tottenham Hotspur believe they can get the player for just £30m-£35m.

The outlet explains that the North London club do not expect to face any issues in agreeing personal terms with Dibling while they also expect Southampton to drop their asking price significantly come the summer.

The outlet adds that Tottenham have already made contact with the England Under-21 international camp and they believe that he is sold on the project.

It is pointed out that the decision-makers at the club see the teenager as a ‘strong fit’ for their youth-led project, while Postecoglou believes that the winger can make an instant impact at N17, seeing him as being ready to compete with the likes of Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski.

The club’s recruitment team view the Southampton man as someone who has the potential to grow into a top-class player, similar to Archie Gray.
