Tottenham monitoring £50m Bundesliga star but Arsenal and Liverpool want him too
Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on one of the best young midfield talents in the Bundesliga, but the North London club will have to break the bank to sign the player according to a new update.
We have seen a number of reports over recent weeks suggest that Yves Bissouma’s time at Spurs is expected to come to an end this summer.
Tottenham are already thought to be looking at midfield options to replace the Mali international this summer.
Spurs are looking at Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton as a big-money option in the middle of the park. Angel Gomes has also been named as a free transfer target for Tottenham, while Andy Diouf was subject to Spurs interest in the January transfer window.
It has now emerged that the North London club also have their eye on a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, whose reputation is soaring in German football.
Tottenham will have to pay at least £50m for Hugo Larsson
Sky Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg has now revealed that Spurs are one of the clubs who have expressed interest in a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s midfield sensation Hugo Larsson.
The youngster’s reputation has blossomed over the last 12 months in particular and his form has seen him establish himself as a mainstay in the Swedish national side.
Plettenberg reveals that Arsenal, Liverpool and a few other teams from the Bundesliga are also monitoring Larsson ahead of the summer.
However, he adds that Frankfurt are adamant that they will not sell their starlet for less than €60m (£50m).
Will Spurs spend big on replacing Yves Bissouma this summer?
With Spurs having a £21m option to buy Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis in the summer, that will always be a tempting option for the club.
However, one feels that the more ambitious call that would signal the club’s intent to compete for trophies would be to spend a bigger amount to sign an elite player like Adam Wharton.
Whether the North London club are prepared to do that or not this summer remains to be seen, but given the club’s PSR position, Tottenham are certainly well placed to flex their financial muscle.
