Manchester United reportedly sets Antony’s price tag after Real Betis victory against Real Madrid

0 6
After a great victory against Real Madrid, Manchester United have reportedly set the price tag of current Real Betis star Antony for the next season.

Since joining Real Betis in January, Antony has made an immediate impact, playing a key role in the team’s impressive form. Following their victory against Real Madrid on Saturday, Manchester United has reportedly set a price tag for the Brazilian winger ahead of next season.

In Matchday 26 of the 2024-25 La Liga season, Real Betis, led by Isco, defeated Real Madrid 2-1, marking their first win against Los Blancos since 2020. While Antony didn’t directly contribute to either goal, he was one of the most threatening players on the pitch, causing problems for Madrid’s defense.

As reported by Spanish outlet Sport, Manchester United has set Antony’s price tag at €50 million, with the potential for a permanent move after this season. The valuation not only aims to recoup part of the original investment in Antony but is also influenced by his recent strong performances in Spain’s top flight.

Before Antony’s arrival, Real Betis was sitting in 10th place in La Liga. Since joining, the Brazilian has contributed 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 league appearances, helping lift the team to 6th place with 38 points from 26 matches.

Is Antony’s future at Real Betis?

Antony’s move to Real Betis is currently a loan deal until the end of the season, meaning a return to Manchester United is likely. However, with his limited role under Ruben Amorim at United and ongoing financial struggles, it seems increasingly probable that the Brazilian will leave Old Trafford. But could Real Betis make his move permanent?

One of the key issues during negotiations between United and Betis was the division of Antony’s salary. The winger is reported to earn €14 million per year, and while Betis covered most of this amount, they did not count with the financial muscle to cover all of it.

In addition to the high wages, the €50 million price tag is a significant obstacle for Real Betis. Known for their modest financial standing, Betis’ biggest transfer in the past 25 years was the €28 million acquisition of Borja Iglesias in 2019, still far short of Antony’s reported price.

Despite these challenges, Antony seems comfortable at Betis, where he’s quickly settling in as a star. “The most important thing is that I’ve found myself. I’m happy to enjoy each day. Things go well when we’re doing well, happy, content… In four games, I scored three goals and provided an assist… I’m very happy,” Antony told Diario As, hinting that he’s open to staying, with the next steps now in the hands of the club.
