Tottenham and Arsenal could face summer transfer battle for 48-cap Spanish international
Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a summer move for a Spain international, but they might have to face off in a transfer battle with their North London rivals to get the deal over the line.
Tottenham have secured the services of Mathys Tel on an initial loan deal from Bayern Munich and Ange Postecoglou’s comments on the Tel’s future suggest that the North London club fully intend to activate the option to buy the Frenchman permanently in the summer.
However, despite the 19-year-old’s arrival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Lilywhites continue to be linked with various forwards around Europe, which might potentially be down to the fact that loanee Timo Werner will return to RB Leipzig while previously Richarlison has been linked with a Saudi Arabia transfer.
A fresh report has now claimed that Tottenham have set their sights on one Barcelona player, who could be available for sale for a modest fee in the summer.
Spurs could battle Arsenal to sign Ferran Torres
This update comes from Fichajes, who claim that Tottenham are plotting to offer Ferren Torres a route back to the Premier League when the transfer window opens this summer
The report says that Tottenham are ‘closely monitoring’ the Barca man and see him as the ideal option to bolster their frontline, given his experience and technical quality.
However, they face competition from Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta considering Torres as the ‘ideal piece’ to strengthen his side’s attack in the summer.
It is revealed that the Gunners did make an approach for the 25-year-old in the past and are expected to do so again in the summer. Additionally, the 48-cap Spaniard is also said to be attracting interest from Napoli and AC Milan ahead of the summer window.
Barcelona want a £33m transfer fee for Ferran Torres
Fichajes claim Torres is expected to be one of the ‘most desired players’ in the summer window as the race for his signature continues to heat up.
The report reveals that Barca were previously reluctant to let the forward leave, but given their financial situation, they are ready to open the door for a summer sale.
Barcelona are expected to demand €40m (£33m) from any side that comes knocking on the door for the Spain international.
