Queen’s Park and Buck’s Bar Come Together to Support Funding Neuro

0 5

TUESDAY night’s visit of our William Hill Championship rivals Ayr United co-incides with an important day for Queen’s Park and charity partners Funding Neuro.

The organisation began as a charity focused on Parkinson’s Disease but has grown over the past two decades to cover many more neurological disorders – and address common problems and symptoms that they all share.

It funds and supports clinical trials into the likes of PD, Glioblastoma and Motor Neurone Disease as well as DIPG brain tumours – but crucially does not duplicate the work being carried out by other charities. Instead they identify issues hindering progress and find solutions so that research and innovative therapies can be accelerated.

Over the past four years that charity has donated over 1 million pounds to these trials.

And on Tuesday, under the Hampden lights, they take centre stage on the park and in Bar 1867.

Players will warm-up for the evening kick-off against the Honest Men wearing training t-shirts bearing the charity’s logo to raise awareness of the organisation – and what they do.

Volunteers will also raise funds around the ground with a bucket collection.

Charity members will also be guests of the club at the big match against Scott Brown’s side and two young mascots related to the charity will lead out the teams.

Funding Neuro is also a cause close to the hearts of our club sponsors Buck’s Bar – who will have a one-off pop-up on-site to mark the awareness day and raise money for the evening’s good cause. All revenue on the night will go to the charity.

It will offer a taste of the popular Cathcart Road venue, for one night only, alongside the usual favourites fans can find in Bar 1867.

Queen’s Park head of commercial Kieran Koszary said: “We look forward to welcoming Funding Neuro to our game against Ayr United and learning more about the fantastic work they do and innovative approach they take across a wide-range of neurological disorders.

“I am sure our brilliant Spiders fan-base will support the awareness day as well as they back Callum Davidson and the team during the match”.

Michael Bergson from Bucks Bar said: ‘The Buck’s team are extremely grateful that our partners and neighbours at Queens Park are supporting our nominated charity Funding Neuro. We’re looking forward to the match and to serving delicious Buck’s chicken to their wonderful supporters’

David Mulligan, CEO of Funding Neuro said: “As a Glasgow based charity we are indebted to our family of supporters. We are entirely reliant upon our own fundraising to do our work so the amazing and continued support from Bucks Bar means so much to us. We are thrilled also to share some of our work with such amazing clubs at Hampden as we know so many supporters from both clubs.”

Funding Neuro – Pioneering treatments, accelerating cures, saving lives.
We fund research that finds solutions.
We are focussed on trials that benefit the people who matter most: the patients.

Our aim is to accelerate the development of new treatments for many of the most serious neurological conditions. We do not focus on one single neurological condition nor do we duplicate the work being carried out by other charities. Instead we identify the issues that hinder progress and find solutions so that research and innovative therapies can be accelerated.
