Tottenham will love the £25m claim that has just been made about Tyler Dibling

Tottenham Hotspur could be handed an opportunity to sign Tyler Dibling at a huge discount this summer, according to a former scout of the North London club.

Tyler Dibling is continuing to catch the eye with his performances for Southampton this season, although the campaign continues to go from bad to worse for the Saints.

It emerged just a few days ago that Tottenham made a serious attempt to sign Dibling in the January transfer window but were put off by Southampton’s asking price of £55m.

The same report claimed that Spurs are determined to try again for the winger in the summer, and a fresh update has now suggested that it might be a straightforward deal for the Lilywhites to complete.

Former scout thinks £25m could be enough for Dibling

Mick Brown, who previously worked as a scout at Tottenham and remains well-connected with those who work in the game, is convinced that Postecoglou‘s men will look to poach Dibling from the South Coast in the summer.

He suggested that Southampton would be powerless to stop their academy graduate from leaving if they go down and claimed that the teenager could be available for as little as £25m.

Brown told Football Insider: “Somebody will come along for Tyler Dibling at the end of the season. I can’t see Southampton doing much about that if they’re relegated.

“They’re going to have to make sales, and he’s the outstanding candidate for that given his value and the level of interest there is in him. I think an offer of around £25 million would be enough to get that done.

“I can see him making the move to Tottenham because they’re aiming to buy that sort of player. They’ve got Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Mikey Moore all coming into the team.

“So there are quite a few young players in that team and I think they’ll want to add Dibling to that group. I imagine Tottenham will be preparing to make an offer for him at the end of the season.”

Why Tottenham may be in the driving seat to land Tyler Dibling

There is no doubt that a number of clubs across the Premier League would want to jump at the opportunity to sign Dibling on a discount in the summer.

However, based on the reports doing the rounds over recent months, it appears that Tottenham have already done some groundwork on the deal and have likely touched base with the winger’s representatives.

Additionally, the Saints youngster would have seen the fact that the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Mikey Moore have been handed plenty of opportunities this season. He might feel that working under Ange Postecoglou at Spurs might be the right next step in his development.
