Tottenham ready to make huge offer for Atletico Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to tempt Atletico Madrid with a huge offer for one of their rising stars and the La Liga giants are expected to find it hard to turn down the North London club’s advances.

Midfield is an area where Tottenham have not had as many injuries compared to other parts of the pitch this season, but the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma have not hit the heights that Ange Postecoglou might have expected them to.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites are looking to bolster their options in the middle of the park and they could turn to one youngster who is setting La Liga alight.

The player in question is Pablo Barrios, who has emerged as one of Atletico’s most consistent performers over the last 12 months. His displays even earned him a cap for Spain back in November of last year.

Barrios’s physical attributes, tactical intelligence and versatility are admired by Ange Postecoglou’s side, who believe that he can thrive in English football.

As a result, Spurs are willing to make an offer of €75m (£62m) for the young midfielder in the summer.

The report claims Diego Simeone is a fan of the youngster and fully trusts the player, but an offer of £62m might be too much for the La Liga side to refuse.

It will ‘not be easy’ for Atletico to retain Barrios if faced with such an offer as the amount could relieve the club’s financial struggles and give them an opportunity to make signings.

The publication asserts that if Tottenham do press forward with such an offer, it will give Atletico a lot to think about, with the decision potentially even depending on whether the midfielder is keen to get a taste of Premier League football.
