One Big Takeaway As Familiar Trend Plagues Bruins Against Ducks
The Boston Bruins were unable to complete a come-from-behind victory in Saturday night’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks at TD Garden.
The Black and Gold struggled to get their skating legs going in the first period and quickly found themselves trailing the Ducks by a pair of goals at the end of 20 minutes.
It’s become a scenario far too familiar for the 2024-25 Bruins, and this time, the Black and Gold were unable to overcome the adversity.
With the loss, the Bruins’ record fell to 27-24-7 on the season, further reducing their chances of a playoff spot with 24 games remaining.
The lone bright spot for Boston was David Pastrnak extending his point streak to 14 games.
The 28-year-old forward had the primary assist on Elias Lindholm’s 11th tally of the season. Pastrnak has 27 points (11 goals and 16 assists) during that span. It is the longest streak of his career and the longest by a Bruin since Phil Kessel’s 18-game point streak Through November and December in the 2008-09 campaign.
The Bruins mounted a comeback with goals from Lindholm and Morgan Geekie before the end of regulation, but Leo Carlsson netted his 10th goal of the season to secure the two points for the Ducks with 1:21 left in the 5-minute overtime period.
