Man Utd stars now know ‘the only answer’ Amorim must deploy to turn club’s fortunes around - report

0 3

The feeling among some Manchester United players is that the system of head coach Ruben Amorim simply does not suit the current squad, and compromise is the only answer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Portuguese has refused to be flexible with his style of play and tactics since replacing Erik ten Hag some months ago, but it has yielded nothing, with the Red Devils recording just three wins in their last 12 Premier League games.

Some Man United players are beginning to lose faith in his system as results and performances continue to suffer, with confidence in his methods starting to wane.

The disaffected group of Red Devils stars believe that even when they win, it is largely down to individual moments of quality or good fortune rather than a tactical triumph.

Sticking with his preferred 3-4-3 formation from his Sporting Lisbon days is not producing any positive results, and Man United could finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table or find themselves in the relegation battle if a significant improvement does not take place on the pitch going forward this season.

They are currently 15th in the league table after 25 games, with 12 points separating them from the relegation zone and 12 points between them and the European places.

Amorim will be desperate to make quality recruitment in the summer, but he may need more than two or three transfer windows to assemble a squad perfect for his system, and he needs to deliver the goods right now.

Adaptability is one of the qualities of a good tactician, and the Man United boss has to prove he has what it takes to work with his current team and get something out of them despite what people say about their overall quality.

Antony has hit the ground running at Real Betis, Marcus Rashford is impressing at Aston Villa, and while their sudden eye-catching performances could be as a result of an initial change of scenery, questions could be asked over Amorim’s decision-making and his ability to inspire his players.

His job is not under threat right now, but he needs to ensure Man United do not find themselves in a relegation battle anytime soon if he wants to have the opportunity of leading them next season, and changing his tactics could be a good way to start.
