'He's gone', 'he's disappeared': £25m United loanee blasted by club legend after 14x possession lost last week
Manchester United have had a dismal Premier League campaign. The club have picked up 29 points after 25 games.
Chelsea have fared better with 43 points, but they have registered just nine points from the last nine outings.
Jadon Sancho had a good start to his Blues career after his move from Old Trafford on an initial loan, but his form has nosedived.
John Obi Mikel, described as a club legend by Chelsea, slammed Sancho’s performances and said he has disappeared off the grid.
He said on his podcast: “Jadon Sancho he’s come on he’s deceived us with a couple of games. We thought, we are getting this Jadon Sancho from Dortmund.
“He’s gone. I don’t know what’s happened to Jadon. He’s disappeared, off the grid.
“He takes the ball, he doesn’t go past people any more, he doesn’t create chances. He doesn’t help the team as much as he should be.”
Obi Mikel went on to question the on-field leadership at Chelsea. He criticised Sancho for failing to tackle and track runners in the 3-0 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion.
United right to offload Sancho despite low fee
The Blues signed Sancho on loan with an obligation to buy if they finish 14th or higher in the league.
That looks certain to happen with the club’s good campaign thus far. The £25 million clause did not go well with some United fans, but the decision now appears justified.
Sancho has struggled to replicate his performances from his Borussia Dortmund days. He looks a shadow of himself with the lack of cutting edge in the final third.
The attacker won just four out of nine duels in the recent league loss at Brighton. He lost possession on 14 occasions and did not muster a single attempt on goal.
It was a similar theme in the FA Cup fourth-round defeat to the Seagulls. He appears out of depth in the Premier League. We won’t be surprised if Chelsea offload him.
The Blues will be obliged to sign him this summer. They could seek to recoup funds instantly. Dortmund could be in the fray due to Sancho’s success in the Bundesliga.
