Are Tottenham about to hit the reset button on their season?

For only the second time since November, Tottenham have had a full week to prepare for a weekend fixture.

Tottenham host Manchester United and with a few weeks of no mid-week fixtures, are looking to take this opportunity to get players back from injury and improve their standing in the Premier League table.

Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, Wilson Odobert and Brennan Johnson are all in contention to feature. Additionally, new signings Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso have now had more training sessions to settle into life at Spurs and will hope to kick on with a first Premier League win.

Harry Redknapp predicts Tottenham vs Man United score

Former Spurs manager, Harry Redknapp, has given his prediction to BetVictor for the upcoming match between Tottenham and Man United.

Redknapp said: “This could be the match of the weekend. This tie always has goals in it and the way both these sides are playing now, it’s anyone’s guess what the scoreline will be. Their defences are leaking goals left, right and centre.

“Manchester United were very fortunate to get the win against Leicester in the FA Cup. That Harry Maguire equaliser gave us all a taste of the pre-VAR days! United just aren’t getting into gear. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got high hopes for Ruben Amorim, but his new system is going to take some time to bed-in with the players.

“There’s talent on both sides and plenty of goal scorers out there but then there’s the silly mistakes and bloopers that seem to be a prerequisite when Man United and Spurs play. It makes it very entertaining for the neutrals!”

Prediction: Tottenham 2 – 2 Man United

Tottenham will concede goals until they can effectively press again

Despite an unusually high goal difference for a team in the bottom half of the table, the amount of goals conceded makes Tottenham’s league position less surprising.

Spurs’ defensive structure is front-footed and they defend through their press. The absences of Vicario, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have exacerbated some exploitable gaps. However, the progression of the squad’s overall fatigue has made Spurs more vulnerable altogether.

Hopefully, with some returning players, Tottenham may be able to establish some greater defensive security. Nevertheless, until Dominic Solanke and the starting defenders return, regular clean sheets may not be on the cards.
