Transform aging facilities with smart renovation strategies

Aging rec centers present many challenges for campus rec departments, and not every campus has grand plans to replace them with brand-new facilities. Renovation offers a successful path forward for many colleges and universities. But what solutions exist to transform outdated buildings into modern facilities and at what scale should the project unfold? Where should a campus start its strategic decision making when approaching a renovation project?

University of California-Riverside Rec Director Lindy Fenex joins design leaders from NIRSA Silver Partner CannonDesign to talk about the guiding principles that can make recreation renovation projects successful at any scale. Join the “Renovate, Recreate and Flourish” discussion that is happening for FREE on Tuesday, March 11, at 11:00am Pacific/2:00pm Eastern.

Why should you attend?

Panelists will point to recent examples from Boston College, Virginia Tech, and other leading institutions to help attendees:

  • Learn how older recreation centers can be expanded or renovated to address space planning challenges, new program demands, and sustainability goals
  • Discover creative design solutions to enhance outdated buildings and transform them into facilities ready to meet the modern moment
  • Understand the key processes and decisions that empower successful renovation projects
  • Make better strategic decisions for the future of their recreation facilities, students, and campus communities
