Fleet Place Star Rookie On LTIR, Sign Local Fan Favorite

The Fleet made a transaction ahead of their return to action from the international break.

Boston announced Wednesday it placed forward Hannah Bilka on long-term injured reserve. Jillian Dempsey signed a 10-day standard player agreement as a corresponding move.

Bilka suffered a lower-body injury while representing Team USA in the Rivalry Series against Canada. The rookie was third on the Fleet with nine points in 13 games before the international break.

Dempsey started the season on the Fleet’s reserve player list. Boston signed the Winthrop, Mass., native last offseason after she debuted in the PHWL with the Montréal Victoire where she scored one goal and tallied three assists for four points. Dempsey is no stranger to the Boston hockey scene. She helped the Pride win three Isobel Cup titles and finished as the PHF’s all-time leading scorer with 146 points in 142 career games.

She’ll likely suit up when the Fleet take on the New York Sirens at Prudential Center. Puck drop is scheduled at 7 p.m. ET on NESN.
