Patriots Legend Wrote Note To Eagles Star Before Super Bowl LIX
Before taking football’s great stage, A.J. Brown received some words of encouragement from a former wide receiver who knows a thing or two about shining on Super Bowl Sunday.
Following the Eagles’ dominant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome, Julian Edelman revealed he left a note for Brown while taking a tour of Philadelphia’s locker room before Super Bowl LIX. While the Birds’ star wideout didn’t reveal what the note said, he expressed his admiration for the New England Patriots legend.
“It meant the world to me,” Brown said on FOX. “You know, I’ve been a fan of Julian for a long time. I grew up a Patriots fan, so this guy is very special to me. I watched him year after year — him and Tom (Brady). Those guys are very special to me.”
Brown didn’t stuff the stat sheet like he typically does against the Chiefs, but he did leave his mark on the 2024 season finale. The three-time Pro Bowl selection caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Super Bowl LIX MVP Jalen Hurts right before halftime, which gave the Eagles a commanding 24-0 lead.
The 27-year-old now will be able to enjoy the spoils of winning a championship, much like Edelman did on three occasions with the Patriots. And Edelman’s experience with those celebrations made him inclined to pass along a message to the people of Philadelphia.
