A Letter from CEO Kim Stone

0 2

Dear Spirit Investors,

We are 26 days from the start of our 2025 season, and the excitement is high!

As we look toward a new season, I want to first acknowledge our remarkable achievements from 2024 and share how they’re propelling us into an even stronger 2025. Our success has translated into unprecedented national media coverage: this season 18 games will be broadcast across ABC, CBS, ESPN, and Prime Video networks – matching Angel City for the highest in the league. Impressively, 10 home game selections reflect the media partners’ recognition of our exceptional game atmosphere at “Rowdy Audi” as that is a key factor for their broadcasting decisions. Of those 10, five matches are on national networks ABC, CBS and ESPN. This puts us alongside Kansas City as the only teams with multiple showcase games at home.

In preseason developments, our team is holding four weeks of training camp in Florida, maximizing on-field preparation time. General Manager Mark Krikorian reports the squad has returned in great physical condition, surpassing last year’s standards. Our previously injured players are progressing well in their rehabilitation, and our new international signings are already making their mark.

• Defender Kysha Sylla has joined the Spirit on loan from Olympique Lyon for the 2025 season, and she is expected to make a significant impact in the defensive third this season.

• Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver has signed a three-year contract with the club after joining from Manchester City, with an option for 2028. Her addition will enhance our depth at goalkeeper as we head into an important season.

• Midfielder Narumi Miura joins the Spirit from the North Carolina Courage on a two-year contract with an option for 2027. Her midfield skills will be crucial as the team competes for a championship this year.

Our journey to the 2024 championship will be featured in Prime Video’s latest sports docuseries “For the Win: NWSL”. Tune into Prime starting March 6th to view the exciting four-part series. It features behind-the-scenes footage that captures the essence of our amazing season. Following the successful model of docuseries like “Drive to Survive” in Formula 1, this partnership presents a unique opportunity to showcase both our club and the NWSL to a global audience.

Finally, we are four weeks away from our Challenge Cup opener in Orlando on March 7th – a championship rematch that will kick off what promises to be our most visible season yet. The combination of our growing national media presence and the team’s strong preparation has us perfectly positioned for 2025.

None of this is possible without the unwavering support and dedication of Michele and each of you. I look forward to seeing you at a match this season.

Let’s Go Spirit,

Kim
