Predicted Tottenham XI to face Aston Villa in the FA Cup – Mathys Tel starts
Spurs will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they face the Villans away from home at Villa Park. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
Predicted Tottenham XI to face Aston Villa in the FA Cup
Goalkeeper – Antonin Kinsky: Despite conceding four against Liverpool, Antonin Kinsky did make a couple of impressive saves that prevented the scoreline from being worse on the night. With this being a must-win game, there is no room for rotation.
Right-back – Pedro Porro: Of all times to rest Porro, manager Ange Postecoglou chose one of the club’s biggest games yet, still can’t get my head around it. We expect he will make a return to the starting XI this weekend against Villa.
Centre-back – Ben Davies: van de Ven and Cristian Romero still do not look like they will be making a return anytime soon. In their absence, Davies has performed well. We will need another reliable performance from him if we are to make it through.
Centre-back – Kevin Danso: Despite conceding four against Liverpool, Danso’s debut was still impressive. The centre-back did manage to slot in seamlessly after just a short period at the club. It will be nice for him to pick up his first clean sheet this weekend.
Left-back – Djed Spence: Archie Gray, needs a rest and Djed looks like he can’t stop running. He has been really impressive this season and it is nice to see him fight for this club. He should continue on the left.
Pivot midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: Ange Postecoglou turned to his experienced players during the midweek clash and of all days to be awful, they chose a semi-final second leg. Bissouma’s inconsistency makes him an unreliable pick, he does not deserve to start on Sunday.
Central midfielder – Rodrigo Bentancur: Honestly if it was possible, all the midfielders who started on Thursday will be dropped for this Sunday clash. However, we do not have the luxury of that, so we expect to see Bentancur in the starting XI.
Central midfielder – Dejan Kulusevski: One thing I will say ahead of this Villa clash, is for Ange Postecoglou to find a way to get Kulusevski in the midfield. A midfield three of Sarr, Bentancur and Bissouma almost always falters as they are all too similar in style of play. Drop one of the three and put a creative player in there to help progress the ball.
Left midfielder – Heung-min Son: Son has to do better as club captain. Thursday’s performance sums up his season perfectly, never involved as much in games. No other option though, so he should start. He will be hoping to add to his 18 goals and assists in 32 games this season (TransferMarkt).
Striker – Mathys Tel: Let me Tel you something, we do not have any other strikers available for selection as Solanke, Richarlison and Dane Scarlett are all set to miss out. Mathys Tel will have his full debut here against Aston Villa.
Right midfielder – Mikey Moore: If you are pushing Dejan Kulusevski into the midfield, then Mikey Moore simply has to start on the right. We need some freshness and energy in this squad and I am sure he will bring that.
