Patriots’ Christian Gonzalez Admits This Plagued Team In 2024

The Patriots are readily admitting that things got a bit too lackadaisical under the old regime.

Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez made an appearance on “PFT Live” with Mike Florio and Chris Simms on Wednesday, and was asked about what problems specifically plagued the team in 2024. Gonzalez gave a rather simple answer, though it wasn’t all that surprising.

“I would say the building got a little more lax. I mean, that might have hurt us,” Gonzalez said Wednesday on PFT Live with Mike Florio and Chris Simms. “I would probably say it got a little more lax.”

Jerod Mayo’s shortlived tenure as head coach was riddled with examples of his team being too “lax,” whether it be in the building, on the field or off of it. The Patriots quickly recognized that it wasn’t sustainable, leading to a coaching change being made after just one season.

Mike Vrabel’s experience as a head coach would suggest that things will change under his regime, which Gonzalez seems to believe.

“I know he’s a Patriot, in the Patriot Hall of Fame. They talk good about him,” Gonzalez said. “I’ve heard it’s going back to what they call the ‘Patriot Way.’ For sure, I’m ready.”

What do you think, Patriots fans? Will Vrabel reintroduce the “Patriot Way?”
