Red Sox Farm System Claims Baseball America Honor For First Time
The future is bright for the Red Sox, and the baseball world is giving them their respect.
Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer are among the top prospects in MLB. Boston is excited to see what the trio can do in the majors once they’re ready and the feeling is mutual.
Boston’s farm system took a necessary hit when it traded away four top-100 prospects to acquire Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox. However, Baseball America still ranked the Red Sox No. 1 in its farm system rankings.
“The Red Sox have returned to the top of the farm system rankings, even after dealing four prospects to the White Sox to bring Garrett Crochet to Boston,” Baseball America wrote. “No other organization can match the trio of Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer, and Boston’s pitching depth has improved as well.”
The Red Sox ranked No. 13 last year, so this year’s ranking was a huge ascent. It exemplified the fast rise of Campbell through the minors and how much Anthony developed in a year.
Boston’s prospects aren’t taking too much stock in their high rankings and national praise. They’ve continuously stated that the primary goal is to make it to the majors to help the Red Sox win and have been laser-focused on that goal throughout the offseason.
