Postecoglou reveals how Spurs can convince players to join after snubs
Ange Postecoglou has made an interesting comment about what Spurs can do to convince their transfer targets to join the club despite the team’s current predicament in the Premier League.
Two players have turned down Tottenham moves
Over the last 24 hours, Spurs have received some huge blows, with Bayern Munich winger Mathys Tel as well as AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori turning down the chance to move to N17.
Earlier this month, Tottenham also failed with a move to sign Randal Kolo Muani, who opted to make a loan move to Juventus instead.
Perhaps, the Lilywhites‘ struggles to attract top players is not a big surprise considering their position in the Premier League table, but Postecoglou is bullish that Spurs are still an attractive destination for players.

The Tottenham head coach insists that while his side’s league position is not positive, there are still some big opportunities to achieve success at N17 over the next four months.
Postecoglou also remarked that if a player needs a lot of convincing about the project, he might not be a right fit for the club.
When asked about the challenges of attracting the top players, the Australian told Football.London: “It depends what the players are looking for. You can look at it two ways, ok the league form is not great but there’s some pretty big possibilities to have success here in the last three or four months.
“It’s still a big club, it’s still a club that can challenge for honours and it’s whether the player sees the potential that we see right now, or certainly that I see. If it’s too much of a hard sell it’s probably not the right one for us.”
Postecoglou does not want signings for the sake of it
Having been turned down by the likes Tel and Tomori, Spurs are now in a race against time to tie up deals for alternative options before the window slams shut on Monday.
However, Postecoglou made it clear that the club are not simply looking to get bodies through the door and would only make moves for players who would be the right fit for them.
He added: “You need a bit of discipline. The one thing I don’t want to do is bring somebody in who is just going to be another body. I don’t think that serves any purpose knowing what we’ve got coming in [back].
“That aside, there is definitely a need for us and has been a need, that’s why we’ve been looking for a player or two to help us with what’s ahead. But they have to be the right types and fit in with what we’re doing. I guess that’s the tricky bit. There are plenty of players available but are they going to be the right ones, that’s the question for us.”
