Bruins’ David Pastrnak Earns NHL Honor Before Rangers Matchup
BOSTON — Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak is doing his part.
The NHL announced on Saturday that he was named its first star for January. Pastrnak led the league in scoring across the month, totaling 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points — recording at least one point in 12-of-14 contests.
The Bruins weren’t quite as successful, finishing 5-7-2 across the same stretch.
Pastrnak has played in all 53 games with the club this season, notching 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points. The Bruins’ leader in goals, assists, points, points per game (1.15) even strength goals (18), even strength points (47), power-play goals (6) and power-play points (14) previously earned the award on numerous occasions.
The Bruins will look to ride that momentum into a more successful February, kicking off their schedule with a matinee matchup against the New York Rangers on Saturday.
Boston and New York will take the ice at 3:30 p.m. ET, with puck drop coming on ABC.
