Patriots Rumors: Jerod Mayo Staff Member Surprisingly Returning
The New England Patriots haven’t retained a single member of their offensive and defensive coaching staffs under Mike Vrabel.
Until now.
Ben McAdoo is expected to remain on the coaching staff in 2025, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. McAdoo served as a senior offensive assistant in 2024, though his responsibilities could change this year, per the report.
New England previously had only retained special teams coaches Jeremy Springer and Tom Quinn — the latter of whom has years of experience working with Vrabel.
McAdoo, 47, served in an undefined role last season, though players and fellow coaches essentially chalked it up to “a little bit of everything” throughout the week, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. McAdoo took a year off coaching in 2023, eventually making his return in 2024 after stints with the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars after being fired as the New York Giants’ head coach in 2017.
The Patriots offense will have four assistants on staff with head coaching experience: Josh McDaniels, Doug Marrone, Thomas Brown and McAdoo.
