Arsenal legend admits ‘devastation’ when Spurs won transfer race
Arsenal legend David Seaman admits that he was heartbroken to see one man go to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, predicting that the Spurs starlet is destined for greatness.
Tottenham have a gem on their hands
A couple of months into the campaign, a number of Tottenham fans were probably wondering about the logic of the club spending a big fee on Archie Gray, who looked very raw and not ready for the highest level.
However, the teenager has shown over the course of the last two months just why so many in the game think so highly of him.
The 18-year-old has done an admirable job in the heart of defence alongside Radu Dragusin, even though it is a position that he has not played before.
David Seaman’s admission about Archie Gray signing for Spurs
There is now a lot of excitement at N17 over the kind of player Gray can become, with fans still waiting with anticipation to see the youngster operate as a number six, which many who have watched him closely feel is his best position.
Seaman admits that he is a huge fan of the Leeds academy graduate and remarked that the way the Tottenham man has stepped up this season is proof of his strong mentality.
The Arsenal legend told talkSPORT: “I was devastated when you (Spurs) got him (Gray) from Leeds because that’s my team. To see him doing what he’s doing, he’s going to be a special player.
“For a guy that age to be able to do that under that pressure as well, that shows you a lot about that player.”
Will Gray be handed an opportunity in midfield?
Given how well Gray has coped with the challenges that have come his way so far, one would think that Postecoglou would be tempted to give him an opportunity in midfield.
One suspects that we will see the 18-year-old playing in the middle of the park a lot more once the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are back in action.
