Adams: Delighted With Massive Three Points
Eilidh Adams is "delighted" to have secured a "massive" three points against historic rivals Glasgow City at Meadowbank Stadium.
The Hibees' masterful 3-1 victory over Glasgow City narrows the gap between the league leaders and third-place Hibs, as we stay level on points with second-place Rangers, to just two points.
Grant Scott's side now see their unbeaten ScottishPower Women's Premier League run extend to 11 matches - a new current league-best following the end of City's mighty 16-game undefeated league stretch.
"I am Delighted. It is a massive win for us," Adams told Hibs TV following the impressive result.
"As the league looks just now, it is very tight at the top. We knew to get that three points would be massive. Historically, the games are always tight between us and City, so we are delighted to come away with a comfortable win.
"It’s massive. We have a good flow going at the moment, quite a bit of momentum. We want to continue that. It shows how far we’ve come.
"The game against them at the start of the season, we did not turn up and they beat us comfortably. From that point to now, there has been big changes."
Eilidh Adams netted in between two Kathleen McGovern strikes to take her scoring tally to a remarkable 23 goals in as many appearances.
While all three goals on the evening were assisted by midfielder Ciara Grant, Adams and McGovern linked up excellently throughout the 90 alongside left winger Tegan Bowie.
"I think it is nice [starting with McGovern]. We try and link up with each other. We have not started often together, though we’ve played as a two occasionally.
"I know she will always be in the box, so if I am out wide, I just try to get that early delivery in. She knows I am looking for that because I am a striker myself, you want the early ball in from the wide player.
"We are both delighted to get on the scoresheet and help the team."
Following a terrific turnout for last week's Sky Sports Cup Semi-Final, the Hibees were back out in force again to loudly back the girls once more versus City - which Adams and the team greatly appreciate.
"It’s always great for us. They always turn out for us. It keeps up going.
"We really appreciate their support. The fanbase is growing, which is really great to see.
It helps us out massively and we really appreciate it."
