Havant & Waterlooville 2-1 Poole Town – Match Report

0 33

Poole Town fell to a 2-1 defeat away from home to Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday afternoon.

Managers Joe Lea and Pat Suraci made two changes from the 1-0 win over Basingstoke with Tyrique Clarke and new signing Keelan O’Connell coming into the starting eleven.

The match got underway with Havant the brighter of the sides early on.

Debutant O’Connell had the first chance of the match for the Dolphins but dragged his shot narrowly wide.

The deadlock was broken after 13 minutes as O’Connell found Diaz through on goal and he calmy slotted past the goalkeeper to put Poole infront.

Havant went close to equalising on the 36th minute but great defending from Harry Thomas denied them.

They did eventually draw the scores level just a few minutes later through Ryan Seagar who finished superbly into the bottom corner.

The half came to a close with proceedings level at the break.

Poole started the second half on the front foot as Clarke went close just after the restart but was denied by a great stop.

Ezio Touray’s effort went narrowly wide from a tight angle as his shot was fired into the side netting.

Havant eventually took the lead on the 80th minute as Ryan Seager scored his second of the match and gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead.

Poole pushed on in search of a late equaliser but it seemed as if time was running out for the Dolphins.

With minutes left on the clock, Poole were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area but Charlie Davis was unable to hit the target.

The match came to a close with Havant taking all three points in a thoroughly entertaining end-to-end game that really could have gone either way.

Poole are in action again next Saturday as they host Frome Town.
