Tottenham fans will love Chris Sutton’s score prediction for Leicester
Spurs will look to leverage home advantage as they host relegation candidates Leicester. Spurs need points, and Chris Sutton has now submitted his score prediction for Tottenham vs Leicester.
The Europa League win could provide a needed boost
Tottenham need players and they need points. This seems to have been the conclusion most have reached in the build-up to every match for the last month.
Having secured a win against Hoffenheim in the Europa League, the Spurs squad can take the joys of a hard-fought 3 points back home. While Tottenham wait for players to return from injury, an important win could be the boost they need to scrap through a few more games and finally produce a run of results.
Spurs are going into the weekend positioned 15th in the Premier League table. While injuries remain a significant caveat to all Tottenham performances, Spurs cannot afford to leave a home fixture against relegation candidates, Leicester without all three points.
Chris Sutton’s score prediction for Tottenham vs Leicester
Despite an awful run of results in the Premier League, Chris Sutton still backs Tottenham.
In his BBC Sport Prediction Column, Sutton said “Tottenham have only picked up one point from their past six league games but that is still better than Leicester, who have now lost seven in a row.
“Things are becoming increasingly desperate at Spurs, too. Ange Postecoglou seems to be getting a lot of backing from above, but this is an enormous game for him.
“They are missing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven at the back but there is still an argument that the players who have come in should be doing better than they are.
“I love watching Ange’s teams play, I have got a lot of time for him and he has been really unfortunate with a few things, but if Spurs are beaten at home by Leicester then things could get pretty ugly even if they are still in both domestic cups and the Europa League.
“I don’t think that will happen though. These two sides drew 1-1 on the opening day but this time I am backing Spurs to win comfortably.”
Prediction Tottenham 4-1 Leicester
A comfortable win would be glorious, but any win would be great
A comfortable win is a gleeful prospect for Tottenham right now. However, with Djed Spence and Yves Bissouma still doubts, adding to the long list of injuries, a comprehensive dismantling of Leicester feels unlikely.
Tottenham cannot afford to drop any more points in the league. After an away game in Europe, and very little rotation possible, securing another win in any manner possible would be an excellent result.
It feels disappointing to be hoping for a win at home against one of the league’s main relegation candidates. However, it exemplifies the state of the squad and the desperate need for reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
