Radu Dragusin Spurs return timeline revealed after four stitches in his head
Ange Postecoglou can breathe a huge sigh of relief as he has some positive news regarding the extent of Radu Dragusin’s injury and his availability for Tottenham’s upcoming games.
Tottenham’s injury woes at centre-back have cost them dearly
While Spurs have had to deal with injuries across the pitch, it is in central defence where they have been most hurt by absentees.
Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies have all spent significant time on the sidelines, which has meant that Ange Postecoglou has had to use the inexperienced pairing of Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray a lot more than he would have wanted to.
Romero and Van de Ven are still out of action, which is why Postecoglou would have had his heart in his mouth when he saw Dragusin come off with an injury at half-time in Goodison Park after being elbowed on his face just before the interval.
Positive update emerges regarding Radu Dragusin’s injury
The Romanian was bleeding after the incident and received extensive treatment on the pitch, which is why there would have been some concerns at Tottenham about his availability for the next few games, particularly given the medical protocols around head injuries.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has now taken to social media to confirm that the 22-year-old centre-back had to have four stitches after receiving the elbow from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
However, Jacobs revealed that the issue is not expected to keep the defender out of action, with Dragusin in line to feature in the Europa League clash against Hoffenheim on Thursday.
Dragusin’s performances under the microscope
An increasing number of Spurs fans are becoming sceptical about Dragusin‘s suitability for the team’s system.
One suspects Postecoglou and his coaching staff are also coming to the conclusion that the Romanian international is not a good fit for their style, given his struggles in defending one-v-one, and his deficiencies in possession, which costs the side in the build-up phase.
The Australian has no choice but to persist with Dragusin for now, given the injury absentees, but if the 59-year-old does stay on in the job for next season, one would not be surprised if he decides to get rid of the former Genoa man.
