Leeds United v Norwich City
Wednesday 22nd January@19:45 | Elland Road
Leeds could be without the services of Brendan Aaronson on Wednesday evening, when they host Norwich City at Elland Road.
The USA International took a knock to his knee late on during the 3-0 win against the blue side of Sheffield, and was replaced by Josuha Guilavogui. With little time to recover between now and Wednesday, the gaffer will have to improvise; but has several options.
Either Largie Ramazani or Willy Gnonto could fill the void. Both could do with a run-out, having seen limited game time recently. Belgium ace Ramazani scored the second half equaliser in the reverse fixture in early October, cancelling out Josh Sargent's 15th minute penalty.
Central defender Pascal Struijk looks likely to miss out too after a flare-up of his hamstring injury. He went for scans over the weekend, the results of which have not been released yet. Patrick Bamford is Leeds only other casualty. The 31yo will be sidelined for another 3 weeks with a recurring hamstring injury Ilea Gruev (knee), Junior Firpo (hamstring) and Max Wober (knee) all made the bench at weekend, with Gruev managing 20 minutes.
Norwich, currently in 11th, 20 points behind the Whites are going through an injury and suspension crisis. They were so thin on the ground at the weekend when they faced Sheffield United, that Canaries boss Johannes Thorup was forced to name a bench featuring six youngsters with only two substitute league appearances between them.
The midfield is particularly hard-hit, with Marcelino Nunez, Liam Gibbs, Jacob Sorensen, Anis Ben Slimane, Gabriel Forsyth and Tony Springett all sidelined. To compound matters, star man and Championship top scorer Borja Sainz (15) is serving a six-match ban for spitting at Sunderland's Chris Mepham last month. New signing Matej Jurasek is ineligible due to post-Brexit regulations, whilst latest casualty Jose Cordoba has a knee injury.
