NHL Unveils Star-Studded Bruins’ ‘Quarter-Century Team’

The century-old Boston Bruins are a decorated Original Six franchise steeped in history.

Some of the greats of the game have donned the Spoked-B from Bobby Orr to Phil Esposito. And plenty of stellar talents took to the ice for the Bruins recently as well.

The NHL on Monday unveiled the “Quarter-Century Teams” for the Bruins as the league looks to celebrate the last 25 years of professional hockey — the NHL will release a team for each franchise. The Bruins were represented by a first and second team comprised of six players, which included three forwards, two defensemen and a goalie.

It was a no-brainer that Patrice Bergeron ended up on the first team after winning a record six Selke trophies. Plenty of his 2011 Stanley Cup-winning teammates joined him on the list while three current Bruins made an appearance, too.

The teams were voted on by broadcasters, members of the media and select former players.

The six Bruins stars on the First Team are now on the ballot for the NHL All-Quarter Century Team, which will be determined by a fan vote in February.
