McGovern On POTM Award & Big Week Ahead

0 2

Hibernian Women striker Kathleen McGovern is "delighted" after picking up her first ScottishPower Women's Premier League Player of the Month award.

The 22-year-old attacker earned the award by scoring three influential goals in two crucial league victories over Motherwell and Rangers in December 2024.

The pick of the bunch, a ferocious 30-yard strike versus Rangers at Broadwood, was later awarded both the SWPL's and the Club's respective Goal of the Month prizes.

"I’m delighted. It’s a good personal achievement for myself," McGovern told HibsTV.

"But I could not have done it without my teammates. They push me on every day and there were good results in December. I’m just delighted for myself.

"[The Rangers win] was a great result for the team and to get the three points was the most important thing. We just have to keep driving forward."

A huge week continues for Hibernian Women, as our 6-0 home win over Spartans is promptly followed up by a midweek away trip to face Dundee United and a Sky Sports Cup Semi Final versus Aberdeen at Meadowbank on Sunday.

"I think we are flying at the moment and high in confidence. It was a really good December for the team, some big results in there. We just have to keep pushing now into the second half of the season.

"I feel like we’ve came back from the break flying. It was good result [versus Spartans]. We just need to continue that because it’s a big week for everyone. To get to a cup final is the aim, and ambition, of the team.

"The supporters always play their part. We always hear them on the pitch. We need as many of them as possible for this big week, and big month, ahead.

"We thank them again and hopefully [our good form] can continue."
