Tottenham youngster is headed to Scotland on loan

It was John Wenham who first broke on his Lilywhite Rose social media platform on Sunday that Alfie Dorrington is expected to seal a loan switch to Aberdeen until the end of the season.

While we are yet to receive official confirmation regarding the switch, it does tie in with what Ange Postecoglou said last week. The Spurs boss admitted that he wants the 19-year-old to gain some experience out on loan.

Dorrington will hope to get some valuable game time under his belt in the Scottish Premiership in what will be his first taste of senior football.

Alfie Dorrington signs new Tottenham contract

Wenham has now revealed another very interesting detail about Alfie Dorrington’s Tottenham future ahead of his loan move.

He claimed that just before the centre-back agreed to join Aberdeen on loan, he signed a long-term contract at Hotspur Way, thus tying his future to the Lilywhites.

Wenham also stated that the Spurs academy graduate will wear the number 26 shirt at Aberdeen, which, as Tottenham fans will remember, was the shirt number of club legend Ledley King.

Huge coup for Tottenham to tie down Dorrington

Over recent years, we have seen a number of English youngsters either drop down to the lower leagues or move abroad to improve their chances of breaking into the first team.

That thought might have crossed Dorrington’s mind, given that he has to compete with other top young centre-backs at Spurs such as Luka Vuskovic and Ashley Phillips, not least the first-team stars at the club.

That is why Tottenham have done very well to convince the youngster to put pen to paper on a long-term deal.
