COSAFA clubs in the CAF Interclub competitions

Two of the three COSAFA sides competing in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League could make the knockout rounds of the competition, while one is already through in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup and could yet be joined by another.

Here is a quick rundown of where each team is placed heading into the final round of group stage games this weekend.

CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa): Sundowns will need just a draw when they host top side FAR Rabat from Morocco. That would see them finish runners-up in Group B, but a win would leave them top. The only way they can be overhauled is if they lose and Raja Casablanca defeat already ousted Maniema Union.

Orlando Pirates (South Africa): Pirates are already through to the knockout rounds, the only thing left to decide is whether they go through as the top or second-placed side in Group C. They currently sit top ahead of a trip to Egypt to face Al Ahly. A win or draw will keep them at the summit, but defeat and they will be overtaken.

Sagrada Esperança (Angola): Sagrada Esperança are already out as they lie in third, five points behind second-placed Pyramids FC. Their final game is away to pool leaders Esperance from Tunisia.

CAF CONFEDERATION CUP
Bravos do Maquis (Angola):
Bravos do Maquis cannot make the knockout rounds as though they are only three points behind second-placed Simba from Tanzania, their head-to-head record is inferior. Their final game is away at bottom side CS Sfaxien in Tunisia, who have yet to pick up a point this campaign.

Stellenbosch FC (South Africa): Stellenbosch have sealed their place in the knockout rounds thanks to a 2-0 home win against Stade Malien at the weekend. They cannot finish top, so second place is as good as it will get as they head to Morocco to meet leaders RS Berkane.

Desportivo da Lunda Sul (Angola): Desportivo are in the same pool as Stellenbosch and could yet finish third, if they get an away win at Stade Malien. It will at least give them a first win of the group stage.

Orapa United (Botswana): Orapa have run their race and cannot finish in the top two in the pool having taken two points from their five games so far. They go to ASEC Abidjan at least trying to win and perhaps take third place.

Black Bulls (Mozambique): The Mozambican side must get a win at Egyptian outfit Al Masry to stand a chance of reaching the knockout stages, and then still hope Enyimba get no more than a point against defending champions Zamalek. It would be a surprise if they do, meaning it is all most likely in the hands of Black Bulls.
