Tottenham’s injury concerns easing as key players return

It has been widely reported for some time that a number of Tottenham Hotspur’s sidelined stars are on the verge of making a return to full fitness as the January fixtures continue.

Among those names is Richarlison, whose absence has been keenly felt.

The Brazilian forward’s recovery updates began to circulate when he shared glimpses of his rehabilitation on social media, where he appeared optimistic about his progress.

Now, Ange Postecoglou has provided a definitive update, confirming Richarlison’s ongoing progress and hinting at a clear timeline for his return.

Ange Postecoglou on Richarlison’s return to Tottenham training

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s upcoming fixtures, Ange Postecoglou addressed the status of Richarlison, shedding light on the plan to integrate the forward back into match action.

The Tottenham boss said as relayed on X, by Nizaar Kinsella a football journalist for BBC Sport: “Richarlison is training but we want him to have two solid weeks of training so if he gets through next week he will be fine.”

A cautious approach could be the key

From the looks of things, it appears that Tottenham’s medical team and coaching staff are taking a markedly different approach to managing player recoveries this time around, particularly in the case of Richarlison.

By ensuring he has a full two weeks of solid training before considering him for selection, the club appears intent on avoiding the setbacks that have plagued him since he joined the N17 club.

This strategy may well be a response to the recurring injuries seen across the squad, where players returning too quickly have struggled to maintain fitness and ultimately picked up injuries again.

Should this method prove effective, it could serve as a template for Tottenham to manage player fitness in a more sustainable manner.
