Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou was back in front of the media today ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool.

As is standard in press conferences which are held at the Hotspur Way training ground, Postecoglou was asked for an injury update on his Tottenham first team squad prior to the cup tie on Wednesday evening.

Tottenham vs Liverpool in Carabao Cup semi-final first leg

Tottenham suffered a 6-3 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium prior to Christmas which will serve as a stark reminder of how lethal Arne Slot’s side are in the final third of the pitch.

Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie all remain sidelined.

James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr are both suspended, however, Rodrigo Bentancur is once again available after serving his one-match ban in the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United last weekend.

A sickness bug caused Postecoglou some selection issues against the Magpies. Fraser Forster was bedridden for the match, while Radu Dragusin could only manage to play the first half.

Liverpool come into the fixture having been held to a 2-2 draw against a spirited Manchester United side at a snowy Anfield.

The Spurs boss has revealed that a number of his players are feeling better after the virus outbreak and Mikey Moore could be set for a place on the bench.

Postecoglou told Football.London: “Net wise I still think we’re down. Bentancur back but lose Maddison and Sarr. Mikey potentially could be back on the bench.

“Everyone from the weekend certainly feels better. Radu is better and Archie. Deki was a bit under the weather but he should be fine.”

Tottenham vs Liverpool will take place on Wednesday evening at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with kick-off at 8pm UK time, with the match being televised live in Great Britain on Sky Sports Main Event.
