Predicted Tottenham XI to face Newcastle United

Goalkeeper – Fraser Forster: With first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario still nursing an ankle injury, the 36-year-old veteran is expected to continue between the sticks against Newcastle United.

Right-back – Pedro Porro: Pedro Porro should continue as right-back this weekend, as recent injuries have further stretched Spurs’ depth in the full-back position.

Centre-back – Radu Dragusin: After a brief injury scare in the 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, Dragusin was passed fit to feature in the game against Wolves. With no further injury concerns, he is expected to continue as the more senior centre-back until the Lilywhites’ first-choice options are back.

Centre-back – Archie Gray: The youngster could do with a rest, but Spurs’ stretched squad and lack of defensive depth mean that the midfielder-turned-defender will continue as Dragusin’s centre-back partner once more.

Left-back – Djed Spence: With Udogie picking up what seemed like a hamstring problem against Wolves and Spence returning from suspension, we expect it to be a straight swap at left-back as Udogie is injured.

Pivot midfielder – Yves Bissouma: Rodrigo Bentancur will not be able to build on his improved performance against Wolves, as he is suspended after picking up five yellow cards. This leaves Spurs with Bissouma as the pivot midfielder for the clash against Newcastle United.

Central midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: After being handed a much-needed rest in the game against Wolves, Sarr’s energy and running capabilities will most likely be given preference over Maddison’s creativity against Newcastle’s physical and robust midfield.

Central midfielder – Dejan Kulusevski: If there is one player who is undroppable at this point, it is Dejan Kulusevski. He offers a creative force and goal-scoring threat, and we expect him to be played in the number ten role.

Right midfielder – Brennan Johnson: Johnson, Spurs’ top scorer so far this season, has been a source of goals for the Lilywhites. We expect him to continue on the right, as Spurs will be looking to get goals against a Newcastle side that is on a run of four league games without conceding.

Striker – Dominic Solanke: Ange Postecoglou’s options in this centre-forward role are limited, and with the club having a good six-day rest between this match and their last game, we expect Solanke to continue as the main man up front.

Left midfielder – Heung-min Son: Heung-min Son has been on a poor run of form, compounded by a missed penalty that ultimately cost his team three points. He is one who could benefit from some rest, and the gap between this game and the last should have served that purpose. We expect him to continue on the left and lead the Lilywhites.
