Tottenham and Chelsea are still monitoring left-back target – Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano reveals that Tottenham Hotspur have held an interest in an exciting young wing-back since the summer transfer window.
20-year-old has gone from strength-to-strength this season
Patrick Dorgu shot to the limelight with his impressive performances left-back for Lecce last season and the Dane has shown this campaign that he has more strings to his bow.
He has played a lot of games on the right of a front three in 2023-24 and has chipped in with three goals so far.
Spurs are said to be big fans of the Dane, with some outlets over recent months even installing the Lilywhites as favourites to land the player.
The Lecce man has also been mooted as a target for the likes of Juventus, Napoli and Chelsea over recent weeks.
Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Patrick Dorgu’s future
Romano has now confirmed that Tottenham do hold a concrete interest in Dorgu, revealing that the North London side showed interest in the full-back last summer and continue to monitor him.
The journalist added that Spurs‘ London rivals Chelsea are also fans of the player and are also maintaining a watching brief.
Romano told GiveMeSport: “Patrick Dorgu was a target for Chelsea (via Strasbourg) and Tottenham last summer, both clubs keep monitoring him.”
Will Tottenham sign a left-back in January?
Djed Spence‘s impressive displays at left-back over recent weeks might convince Ange Postecoglou and co that signing a left-back is not a priority at the moment.
In fact, reports over recent days have suggested that the Spurs head coach has been extremely impressed by Spence and plans on continuing to hand him regular opportunities.
However, there is an argument to be made that Tottenham see the Denmark international as an option to play further forward.
