Espanyol want another Tottenham player on loan despite Alejo Veliz struggles
Reports in Spain are now suggesting that Espanyol could part ways with Alejo Veliz in January before signing a different youngster on loan from Tottenham.
Is Alejo Veliz’s loan spell about to be cut short?
Veliz will be extremely disappointed with how his loan at Espanyol has gone so far, particularly since it comes on the back of a forgettable six-month spell at Sevilla last campaign.
The 21-year-old is struggling to get into the newly promoted side’s starting eleven and it has been suggested that his loan could be ended prematurely next month.
In fact, it has been reported in Spain by some sources that the centre-forward is willing to leave the La Liga club mid-season.
Espanyol want to sign another Tottenham man on loan
It has now been claimed by La Grada Radio that Veliz’s exit from Espanyol has been practically sealed ahead of the January window, with the striker set to return to Hotspur Way.
Interestingly, the outlet states that Tottenham have ‘proposed’ the idea of sending Lucas Bergvall on loan to the Spanish side for the second-half of the season.
The report does not reveal if the La Liga club are particularly keen on the idea or if the Swede is willing to join the club on loan.
However, the update does mention that Espanyol sporting director Fran Garagarza wants to focus on the Spanish market in the upcoming transfer window.
Would Spurs loan out Lucas Bergvall?
Bergvall has delivered some extremely impressive displays of late and has shown that he can be a valuable squad option for Ange Postecoglou.
The Tottenham head coach will be wary of leaving himself short of options in the middle of the park if there is another bad injury situation later in the season.
It would thus be highly surprising if the club decided to loan out the 18-year-old next month. They would perhaps wait until next summer to reassess the situation.
