Ange Postecoglou has brought entertainment back to Spurs

Tottenham have had a number of defensive-minded managers since Mauricio Pochettino departed over five years ago. But Ange Postecoglou has brought something different and it did not take long for Spurs supporters to be loving Big Ange instead, while praising him for restoring the club’s identity.

But Spurs have had a mixed season so far. While they have put at least four goals past a number of teams including Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa and West Ham, there have been times when they have thrown leads away, such as their 4-3 home defeat to Chelsea earlier this month.

With consistency proving to be a problem for Spurs, fingers have been pointed at Postecoglou, who has refused to adapt his style. One of many examples is Jamie Carragher claiming Postecoglou would not be at Spurs next season if they continued to take so many risks.

However, one member of the Tottenham first-team squad has been full of praise for the way the Aussie head coach sets up his team to play.

Dominic Solanke believes Ange-ball is right for Tottenham

Most strikers are happy when the ball is frequently finding its way into the opponent’s final third and Dominic Solanke is no exception to this, favouring Postecoglou’s attacking style. And while he enjoys this as an individual, he has insisted it benefits the whole team.

Speaking to the Independent, he said: “Ange is very unique in the way he plays and we love it. The way he plays, it suits us.

“It is a great style, especially for me being a striker to play in. Like I said, we haven’t been consistent enough this season. We’ve just come off not the greatest run but I feel we’re building towards that consistency.”

Ange Postecoglou gets asked the same question after every Tottenham game

Postecoglou must have had his fill of press conferences, considering he keeps being encouraged by the media to adapt his style. Even after Tottenham’s win over Manchester United which saw them reach the Carabao Cup semi-final, questions were raised over Spurs playing the ball out from the back and refusing to park the bus when 3-0 up.

But Postecoglou is sticking to his guns and with the backing of his players, he will be striving to bring Tottenham their first piece of silverware in almost 15 years.
