Leeds United v Oxford United Match Thread
Leeds United v Oxford United
21st December@15:00hrs | Elland Road
Leeds will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Oxford Utd on Saturday after dropping points at Deepdale last weekend.
Whilst a last gasp equaliser spared their blushes, Whites fans will be demanding better from Farke's men as they head into the festive period. Leeds home record is the best in Championship, having picked up 28 points at Elland Road from eleven games with a +19 goal difference.
Farke's men sit second in the table, three points below Sheffield Utd. They have 42 points on the board from 21 games and are 18 places and 24 points above Oxford who have only picked up a single point in their last six games. They sacked Des Buckingham earlier in the week, but expect Gary Rowett to take the reins in time for their visit to Elland Road
Daniel Farke is sweating over the fitness of two key players ahead of Saturdays game against Oxford Utd at Elland Road. Pascal Struijk (tight hamstring) and Max Wober (knee) both missed training today, and face late fitness tests, creating a quandary given Ethan Ampadu is not yet fully fit since coming back from his knee injury.
Given James Debayo's lack of experience, Daniel Farke may be forced to go with veteran Frenchman Josuha Guilavogui. The 34yo former French International spent much of his career filling in at centre-back and would be the obvious choice should Struijk and Wober both miss out.
Junior Firpo's hamstring injury will once again keep him side-lined, meaning Sam Byram (if fit) should deputise. Oxford are struggling with left footed players, with Louie Sibley (ankle), Siriki Dembele (ankle) and Joe Bennett (broken ankle) all ruled out!
