One club are desperate to re-sign a Tottenham man in January but their efforts have been complicated by several factors, one of them being the increasing exchange rate.

Fluminense dreaming of a reunion with Spurs man

It has been widely reported in the Brazilian press over the last few days that Fluminense are eyeing a sensation move to bring Richarlison back to Brazil.

However, it was revealed by several sources that any deal would prove difficult for the club to do in January.

This was because Spurs were not too keen on letting the 27-year-old leave mid-season while the player also wants to see out the campaign in North London.

Exchange rate changes complicate Fluminense’s pursuit

GE Globo have now also backed up Fluminense’s interest in landing Richarlison, explaining that the club see the Tottenham man as a key piece of the puzzle in their new project.

It is revealed that the Brazilian side have already reached out to the centre-forward regarding a return to the club, but the deal would be difficult for them to do for the price that Spurs want.

One of the complications is that the value of Pound Sterling is continuing to improve against the Brazilian Real, making the deal increasingly unaffordable for Fluminense.

Richarlison’s stance on return to former club

Interestingly, GE Globo go on to say that Richarlison is Fluminense’s main target ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup and that the former Everton man ‘appreciates the idea’ of returning to his former side.

The forward is thought to believe that such a move would put him back in the spotlight for the Brazilian national side, potentially aiding his efforts to be part of the Selecao squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The outlet adds that Fluminense may even explore signing Richarlison on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.
