Man United player ratings vs Ipswich: Sensational star gets 9/10 but three 4/10s frustrate Ruben Amorim - view

0 2

Manchester United and Ipswich Town shared the spoils at Portman Road in Ruben Amorim’s debut match.

Marcus Rashford was given the onus to lead the line with Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho behind him.

Amad Diallo started in the right-wing back position with Diogo Dalot covering the opposite flank.

Rashford took merely 90 seconds to get the Amorim era rolling.

Ipswich Town responded strongly as they dominated the possession and came close to scoring thrice.

Omari Hutchinson’s deflected curling shot brought the host level right before the break.

Both teams came close to scoring the winning goal but had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Player Ratings

Andre Onana – 9/10

The Cameroon international made a good reaction save to keep United’s lead intact. He pulled off a sensational save to deny Delap a certain goal from six yards.

Onana made another fantastic save to stop Delap’s clever flick from going past him.

Amad Diallo – 7/10

Amad skipped past several challenges before picking out Rashford with a perfect cross. He followed the assist with a fine block to deny a cross from his flank.

The hosts got behind him a couple of times but he will take time to learn about his new role.

Noussair Mazraoui – 6/10

He was unfortunate to provide a wicked deflection for Ipswich’s equaliser.

Matthijs de Ligt – 5/10

De Ligt looked unsettled in the central centre-back birth as he failed to mark Delap inside the box.

Jonny Evans – 4/10

Evans lost his man multiple times and was too slow to return to his position. He failed to get tight to Hutchinson to deny him a shot for the equaliser.

Diogo Dalot – 5/10

The full-back made a strong attacking run but failed to keep his composure while shooting.

Christian Eriksen – 4/10

The midfielder took a shot early in the first half but it failed to hit the target. His lack of dynamism in the centre did not help United and was rightly taken off in the second half.

Casemiro – 4/10

The Brazil international started sluggishly on his 100th appearance for United. Like Evans, he failed in his defensive duty against Hutchinson.

Bruno Fernandes – 6/10

The United captain was just inches away from scoring via a free-kick.

Amorim will expect more creativity from his captain.

Alejandro Garnacho – 5/10

Garnacho had two opportunities to create a final pass during transitions but was successfully tackled.

Marcus Rashford – 6/10

Starting as a striker, Rashford was clinical with his shot to put United ahead early in the clash.

He failed to get into the game apart from that one effort.

Substitutes

Luke Shaw – 5/10

The England international made his first appearance of the 2024/25 season. He looked rusty and expectedly so.

Manuel Ugarte – 6/10

Ugarte was not as assured as he has been over the last month.

Rasmus Hojlund – 5/10

Hojlund was full of running but again without an end product.

Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10

The forward blazed his shot into the stands, summing up his five months at United.

Mason Mount – N/A

Too late to rate.
