Loan Watch: October Recap

We have 14 players currently out on loan across the country and on the continent – read our full round-up below!

Kanayo Megwa – Partick Thistle

Kanayo Megwa has continued his impressive progression with Championship side, Partick Thistle.

The right-back signed in the middle of September, making his debut in a 1-0 win over Dunfermline. Since then, the 20-year-old has played every minute for The Jags and has only lost one of the eight matches he has played in.

That run of form has lifted Kris Doolan’s side up to fifth in the table and into Play-Off contention.

Dylan Vente – PEC Zwolle

Dylan Vente has continued his positive start on his return to the Netherlands with PEC Zwolle.

The forward has scored four goals in 12 matches to date, with the Dutch side currently sitting in 14th place in the Eredivisie.

Jair Tavares – Motherwell

Jair has featured sporadically for Motherwell since he made the switch on Deadline Day.

The creative midfielder has featured four times, all from the bench so far. The Steelmen have enjoyed a solid start to the season and sit fifth in the table after 11 matches.

Allan Delferrière – Racing Union Lëtzebuerg

Allan Delferrière joined Racing Union Lëtzebuerg at the end of August. The 22-year-old has been a consistent performer in Luxembourg, having featured in eight matches so far (all starts).

Racing Union Lëtzebuerg currently sit fourth in the Luxembourg National Division with 24 points from 12 games and have progressed to the Fourth Round of the Luxembourg Cup.

Murray Johnson & Murray Aiken – Airdrieonians

Both Murray Johnson and Murray Aiken have featured regularly for Championship side Airdrieonians.

It has been a difficult start for Rhys McCabe’s side who currently sit bottom of the division with five points from 13 games.

Goalkeeper, Johnson has played 13 matches (all comps) whilst teammate and fellow loanee Murray Aiken has made 17 appearances this season – scoring once.

Scottish League One

Elsewhere in Scotland, Oscar MacIntyre has continued to be a consistent performer for Queen of the South.

The full-back has missed just 45 minutes of The Doonhamer’s first 13 fixtures, featuring at left-back and occasionally on the left-hand side of midfield. The table is extremely tight in League One, with just three points separating the top six teams!

Oscar’s younger brother Jacob MacIntyre is also playing his football in Scottish League One after he joined Kelty Hearts at the end of September.

Jacob Made his debut against his brother and claimed the bragging rights as Kelty ran out 1-5 winners at Palmerston Park.

Malik Zaid (Annan Athletic) and Reuben McAllister (Cove Rangers) are also out on loan in Scottish League One.

Malik has featured prominently for Annan, scoring on his league debut in a 3-1 victory over Cove Rangers and has played in 14 matches so far (nine starts).

Game-time has been more limited for Reuben McAllister however, who has played three times for Cove to date.

Scottish League Two

In League Two, Rory Whittaker has spent the 2024/25 campaign across the capital at Spartans FC. Rory has played nine times for Spartans (all comps). Spartans currently sit sixth in the table, with 15 points from 12 matches.

Young goalkeeper, Freddie Owens has impressed in the Lowland League with Civil Service Strollers. The 19-year-old shot-stopper has made 13 league appearances to date, with the Civil Service moving up to ninth in the table after 17 games.

Kyle McClelland – Coleraine FC 

Kyle McClelland has been a regular name on the teamsheet for Coleraine FC in the Northern Ireland Football League.

The centre-back has made 15 appearances for Dean Shiels’ side, who currently sit eighth after 16 games.

Josh O’Connor – Dundalk FC

Josh O’Connor has made one appearance for Dundalk FC in the League of Ireland Premier Division. The striker came off the bench against Galway United in a 2-0 defeat in August.
