Tottenham could sign Ballon d’Or nominee for less than £25m in January

0 2

One Ballon d’Or nominee, who Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing, is set to be available for a cut-price deal in January, according to the latest reports.

Tottenham eyeing move for Serie A star

The player in question is Ademola Lookman, who has emerged as one of the most swashbuckling attackers in Serie A since his switch to Atalanta back in 2022.

It was reported by TBR Football last month that Spurs have had their eye on the 26-year-old for a long time and even sent scouts to watch him in action in the Champions League this season.

However, the outlet suggested that the Lilywhites might have to battle the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, who are also fans of the Nigeria international.

Is Ademola Lookman in the shop window?

There has now been a big update on Lookman’s future, with Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg revealing that the versatile forward might be on his way out of Atalanta in January.

He explained that the player is keen on a new challenge and with his contract in Bergamo running out in 2026, the Italian club could be open to cashing in on him during the upcoming transfer window.

The journalist further asserted that an offer of around €25m-€30m (£20m-£25m) might be enough to bring the former Everton man back to the Premier League.

Is Lookman a good fit for Spurs?

Lookman has thrived as a second striker or occasionally as a number ten at Atalanta and one does wonder what position Ange Postecoglou would want to use him in at Tottenham.

We know that the Australian likes attackers who are versatile and the fact that the 26-year-old can play in either flank would certainly give the Spurs boss plenty of options.
