Washington Spirit Secures Home Quarterfinal at Audi Field this November

With a top four seed clinched, the Spirit brings postseason play to DC the second weekend of November

Washington, D.C. (10/12/2024) – Following tonight’s results, the Washington Spirit clinched a home quarterfinal match in the 2024 NWSL Playoffs, presented by Google Pixel, the club announced. The North Carolina Courage’s draw tonight against Angel City FC guarantees Washington a top four finish this season.

“The electric atmosphere created by our fans here in DC continues to provide us with an important homefield advantage,” said Head Coach Jonatan Giráldez. “We’re thrilled to have at least one playoff match at Audi Field this year as we work toward another championship for this club.”

Current 2024 and 2025 Spirit Season Ticket Members can purchase their playoff tickets now. Fans who wish to secure their tickets for the Spirit’s quarterfinal match at Audi Field before the general public can purchase a 2025 Season Ticket Membership here. On Tuesday, October 15, two-match playoff strips will go on sale, providing fans the opportunity to secure their seats for both the Spirit’s guaranteed quarterfinal match and a potential semifinal match. Single match tickets will go on sale at a later date; sign up here to be notified.

The Spirit last hosted a playoff match in the 2021 quarterfinals, when it faced the North Carolina Courage in Audi Field’s first-ever NWSL postseason game. Golden Boot winner Ashley Hatch secured a dramatic 1-0 victory, scoring in extra time, as the club went on to claim the first NWSL Championship in Spirit history.

The Spirit, led by star Trinity Rodman’s career high eight goals and six assists, has surged to one of its best regular seasons since the club’s founding in 2012 this year with a record of 15-6-2 (47 points) through 23 matches. Currently sitting in third on the NWSL table, this year’s team has already set new club records in wins (15), points (47), and goals scored (44).

The 2024 NWSL Playoffs will begin the second weekend of November with the eight-team quarterfinal round, followed by the semifinals taking place the next weekend. On Saturday, November 23, the 2024 NWSL Championship will take place in Kansas City, Missouri at CPKC Stadium, the first stadium purpose-built for professional women’s soccer.
