Postecoglou has eight senior Spurs stars to work with at Hotspur Way this week

The international break may be underway, but that doesn’t mean the work at Hotspur Way stops. Here’s a rundown of the eight senior players Ange Postecoglou will still get time with over the next week.

Lots of work to be done at Spurs

After the dismal defeat to Brighton last weekend, naturally, Ange Postecoglou was very unhappy with his players.

The international break may have disrupted the flow of the season for some, but it does present Postecoglou with a great opportunity to carry out intensive work with a number of his first-team players at Spurs.

As per a report from Football.London, there are eight senior players who have not left the club this week for international duty and who can get started on fixing those mistakes from the weekend.

While the likes of Wilson Odobert, Heung-min Son, and Richarlison are all nursing injuries and will be available for light work at best, Postecoglou will get to spend lots of time with James Maddison, Timo Werner, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Djed Spence.

He also has Sergio Reguilon, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, and Alfie Whiteman at Hotspur Way this week, though that particular quartet are not exactly considered key to his plans moving forward.

A big week for international stars

While that group knuckle down and analyse where they went wrong and how to repair the damage against West Ham next weekend, it will be a big week for the likes of Pedro Porro and Dominic Solanke, who have earned exciting recalls to their international setups this week.

Porro was last involved with Spain earlier this year but missed out on Euro 2024. Meanwhile, Solanke has not been part of the England squad since 2017, and will be looking to carry his club form onto the international stage.

Silver lining for Maddison

Maddison may well be disappointed that he has yet again been overlooked for England, especially after making a good start to the season. But, the midfielder has a big opportunity with Spurs now to be the leader they need him to be after the disappointment of last weekend.

With him staying behind at Hotspur Way, he can essentially be the voice of change and lead by example in showcasing what Postecoglou expects of the squad moving forward.
