‘I’m certain of that’ - Boss linked with Man Utd shares fresh update on his future amid Ten Hag uncertainty

0 0

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is under increasing pressure following a woeful start to the season, which has yielded just three wins in 11 games across all competitions.

The Dutchman is safe for now after club bosses opted against sacking him during the October international break, and he will be in charge when the Red Devils take on Brentford on October 19.

One of the managers linked with Man United has ruled himself out of the job, with Gareth Southgate revealing he has no plans of returning to the dugout anytime soon.

Southgate has been constantly linked with Man United but is not looking to get back into management after leaving the Three Lions after the European Championship this summer.

The Red Devils have to look elsewhere for a manager if they decide to part ways with Ten Hag before the end of the campaign.

Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi is also believed to be keen on remaining with the Serie A club for much longer.

It leaves Thomas Tuchel as the favourite for the job if it becomes available, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly a fan of the former Chelsea boss after meeting with him in the summer.

Sacking Ten Hag could cost Man United £16 million as the severance package was not lowered as a result of the club triggering the one-year extension to his existing deal.

United favour Ruud van Nistelrooy as caretaker replacement if the Dutchman is fired, and things could get interesting in the coming months.
