Huge update on Erik ten Hag's plans next week after Man Utd meeting - ESPN reporter
ESPN reporter Rob Dawson has provided a fresh update on the managerial situation at Manchester United following an executive meeting on Tuesday.
The Red Devils have had a dismal start to the campaign and they are presently 14th in the Premier League with only eight points on the board.
The club have not fared well in the Europa League either with draws against Twente and Porto. They squandered a 2-0 lead against the latter.
Hence, there are genuine questions over manager Erik ten Hag’s position, but ESPN’s Dawson claims that the Dutchman is preparing as normal.
There has been no clear directive received since the meeting. Ten Hag has been in touch with members of his staff who have stayed in Manchester.
The 54-year-old is due to return to Manchester early next week to prepare for the Brentford game at Old Trafford, scheduled on October 19.
United could continue with Ten Hag until next international break
The United hierarchy made the big decision to back Ten Hag with the job following the FA Cup success.
The club made a huge outlay on transfers over the summer, but the Dutchman has yet to fully capitalise.
Leny Yoro has been injured right from pre-season and he may not return until early November.
Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte has made just one league start since his move from Paris Saint-Germain.
With no clear update since the meeting, it may indicate that Ten Hag could continue at the helm.
He could be given until the next international break to change the club’s fortunes around.
If there is no significant improvement, the board could sack him in mid-November.
