Bill Belichick Bewildered By ‘High’ Davante Adams Asking Price From Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders are fielding phone calls from teams interested in Davante Adams, who is eagerly awaiting a change of scenery before returning to the field.

So far, the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints are seated in the front row of the race for Adams, which could come at a costly price. A price that former NFL head coach Bill Belichick deems “too high” and unbelievable to foresee the Raiders getting in return for Adams whenever a potential swap does go down.

“I don’t see how anybody’s gonna give up a second-round pick for him,” Belichick said, per Underdog Fantasy. “You’d have to feel like Adams is gonna take us to the promised land and he’s gonna get us over the hump this year because he’s also got a big salary.”

Belichick added: “That’s why if you see that storm coming and it’s brewing, it’s a lot better to do it early rather than later. Right now the Raiders are in a tough situation, they really are. But they kind of put themselves into it. This wasn’t a big secret. This storm has been brewing for a while and the longer you put it off, it seems like the harder it is to get anything done.”

Adams hasn’t suited up since Week 3 and clearly has minimal faith in Las Vegas turning its 2-3 season around. The Raiders, sitting dead last in the AFC West, might not have the easiest time trading Adams away, especially for their desired return considering the 31-year-old is set to earn over $16 million this season plus another $70-plus million for the next two seasons. Those intricacies alone make it complex for Las Vegas to find a suitor willing to invest heavily into welcoming Adams aboard for the next two-plus years.

Then again, the 11-year veteran could prove to be a difference-maker depending on the landing spot — if a trade does come to fruition.
