Mullen Staying on Foyelside

0 3

Derry City FC can confirm that striker Danny Mullen has signed an extension to his contract that will see him remain at the Brandywell at least until the end of 2025.

Speaking at his weekly press conference this afternoon, Manager Ruaidhri Higgins said he was delighted to get the deal done ahead of the season run-in.

“It’s great news for the club and great for Danny too” he said.

“He’s had to be patient at times, but he’s been a major influence at the club since he came in the door.

“He’s scored valuable goals coming off the bench this year but he’s also scored huge goals in games when he started. He’s been such a key part of our season, that’s for sure.”

“Danny is a brilliant person and a brilliant team-mate as well. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not happy when he’s not playing but he conducts himself so well.

“He’s a joy to have around and he’s very, very popular in the dressing room.

‘Danny and his partner Kelsey and their young family have settled in really well and I’m delighted they’ve agreed to stay for at least another year.”

City are preparing for a double-header of crucial league fixtures in the next five days; they entertain Bohemians on Friday and Sligo Rovers on Monday as a thrilling season heads towards a conclusion.
