Fixture Update – Queen’s Park v Raith Rovers

0 7

Queen’s Park received a request from the Scottish FA last week to move our William Hill Championship game against Raith Rovers, which was scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 21, to the Friday night beforehand.

This request was made to allow Hampden Park to host the Glasgow Warriors versus Edinburgh 1872 Cup match, which is a fixture that has been growing in popularity in recent seasons, with a record crowd of nearly 38,000 attending Murrayfield to watch the second leg last year.

After our initial discussions, the club held talks with Raith Rovers and the SPFL and all parties agreed to switch the game to Friday, December 20 to accommodate the Scottish FA’s request. Kick off at Hampden Park will be 7.45pm.

Queen’s Park Club President Graeme Shields said: “We appreciate the assistance we receive from the Scottish FA in allowing our games to be staged at Hampden Park and do understand that this switch will not be convenient for everyone.

Our arrangement with the Scottish FA includes an understanding that both sides will be flexible when there is a requirement to do so concerning the fixture calendar. This amendment is evidence of one of these occasions and we look forward to welcoming our fans and those of Raith Rovers to Hampden Park on Friday 20 December.”
