Don Sweeney Compares Jeremy Swayman Talks To Another Bruins Star

Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney has been involved in some pretty difficult negotiations during his time in the big seat at Warrior Ice Arena.

Jeremy Swayman's has to be among the toughest, though, right?

Sweeney and Swayman agreed to terms on an eight-year extension Sunday, with the former comparing it to that of another recent negotiation that eventually worked out for the Black and Gold.

"(David Pastrnak's) went for a long period of time," Sweeney told reporters Sunday. "I think I've been pretty consistent in saying that every deal has its own timeline. You'd hope there would be a straight-and-narrow path, but it doesn't always work out that way. You have to be respectful and listen, I think that's part of this whole exercise.

Pastrnak's deal was signed relatively early last offseason, but it came after more than a year of negotiations between his camp and Sweeney. The Bruins eventually locked their sniper into a massive eight-year, $90 million contract extension in March of 2023.

Swayman, unlike Pastrnak, was a restricted free agent, so there was less time to agree on a figure by the time things were eventually buttoned up.

The B's got it done, though, adding another star to their core.
